added reddit buttons to fanedit listings
I've added a button to fanedit listings that will allow you to automatically draft a reddit post that contains your edit information, neatly formatted in a nice table. here is an example of what it can look like https://www.reddit.com/r/fanworx/comments/1u4vgf5/harry_potter_and_the_hunt_for_horcruxes/? it includes a lot of information and contact links. I also added a simple function to the site code to handle email links with a template. like... the email button works fine on the site, but sites like reddit parse email addresses and won't allow automatic subject and email body, so i made it so if a user visits fanworx.org/fanedit/email-redirect/(fanedit id) it will then redirect to their email with a new message all filled in ready to send.

X-Men Dark Phoenix - Fan Edit
I've been thinking about one thing; How could I make Jean more conflicted, easy answer, re-add the deleted trailer dialogue of her telling magneto "when I lose control bad things happen, to people I love, but it feels good"... that last bit is key... she feels conflicted, we get that in X-Men TLS I think but not in Dark Phoenix... I want that, I want a hero we struggle to root for, we go from scared girl to "manipulated by a space entity" but we need that ramp to the manipulation..., I also have one question: I don't know VFX but I do know Captain Marvel has a space flight sequence and I almost wonder if... could you realistically, construct a 3d model of Jean flying and rotoscope it onto Captain Marvel (change colors and such) but make it look convincingly like this is Jean defeating the space intelligence? Obviously you still have to come back down to earth... but you could have her go from the train, fly up fight the space entities with epic music then come down and fight the last remains for the final climax with Vuk... maybe a new VFX shot there so its not just spinning purple particles... but hmm... But wait the original ending had her succumbing to the Phoenix and aliens and sending out a blast... so wait... that would require VFX but that could also reuse footage of her in Appoclypse... hmmmmm I'm getting ideas now... I'm gonna edit a crude concept of this and see how it flows (obviously no music fixes or anything... but I've got an idea.) I might have an idea... (obviously would still need VFX to make it convincingly work and music and some cast shots... but... Hmmm

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2 - The Prism Edit - Discussion
The edit has changed a lot since last posting here Dandy98 has been resourceful in realizing I could cut the entire first 30 mins pretty much and still end up with a good opening. So I let him do that, and then messed with it and we constructed an opening where Ethan wakes up from a nightmare (after having been knocked out by Gabriel's members.) We have the scene of Gabriel and Ethan & Grace, and then cut straight from that to the credits once Ethan & Grace fight it out, to Ethan running to save Luthor... where's Grace? We'll just say she went with the rest of the team. I've moved aorund a lot of scenes, the Ethan team at the House comes earlier, and so does the team briefing, with assistance by Spence & Wraith. The latest edit has been the entire firehouse fight, where they fight in the house and getting that to transition without the dumb aircraft fight (the fight's great, storywise unneeded. So I chopped it. - Last night I fooled around with the audio, and got it so the House Fight ends... more smoothly, not perfect. But it's better, and I re-arranged shots of the President's convo with her team so we start on the countdown, then go to the conversation. (used Spence's dialogue separated) ending to the scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbpWeOcina4 The video here is the edit in my timeline, you can see my cuts, I admit I noticed one where I forgot a fade (whoops!) but otherwise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr_lXGQouI4 How does this sound? My edit clocks in around 2:09 (2 hrs obvs) maybe 2:15 but its pretty short, I want to make it longer.. but idk how, so you might get a shorter finale! Which I don't like... but I guess once I smooth this, to move onto reconstructing the ending.

X-Men Dark Phoenix - Fan Edit
I've realized through talking with triad how self-centered/focused I can be when pitching edit collabs, or in general: So I'm going to say this; I'm gonna shut up, and leave this open. If someone wants to help - come to me, you tell me what you want to do, and then we can try and meet in the middle, an actual collab of ideas. Thank you.

X-Men Dark Phoenix - Fan Edit
My first plans are this: 1. How can we make the ending more grand? Can we change the villains to make them skrulls / aliens that actually have a language and logic. 2. Make Jean more conflicted: Theatrical cut "I hurt someone..." I feel bad, 30 mins later, I'm now corrupted by the villain being told "they fear you" Original Cut: had "It feels good" her saying to Magneto, I did bad things, bad things happen, but it feels good, where's that? Where's that conflicted person? That girl that has this phoenix force and struggles morally with what to do: Also opening credits were completely different, where'd those go?? Cut for time, but can we put them back? Would require a lot of work. Even if we had to make something shorter fine, but c'mon the final "X-Men" titled film has "Dark Phoenix" on a black screen... seriously?

It seems to me you're asking for a stooge. I'm not going to pledge my time and effort to be a busy body for someone. If you want to be a producer you need to have a budget and employ people. I think you really need to rethink your approach to people. you don't ask for collaboration, you ask for free labour.

What I am asking for is a visual effect collaborator, first we'll come up with how to improve the story, and figure out what shots we need: I want to collaborate if that's the way to do it, I understand I came off as to much "I want" but I didn't mean to sound overtly disrespectful. I want a partner, I want someone whose willing to do VFX and work with me.

I don't know how to do Visual Effects, what I can provide is a vision: I'd like to work with someone who can help with ideas. If they are willing then provide VFX work, I want to make the ending / film more grand and epic, but don't have the skills to do so at all. I don't have much money to pay for a VFX partner either... but I'm curious how much someone would be asking for to collaborate.

Well this is very vague. Are you asking for somebody to do most of the work for you? If you want to collaborate with somebody, you need to bring something to the table. Lay out something concrete and then ask for interested parties.

X-Men Dark Phoenix - Fan Edit
I've ever since my second watch of X-Men Dark Phoenix have enjoyed the film... and after learning of it's crazy production with major reshoots changing the whole third act, different goals and ideas, shortened vision, missing trailer footage, etc, etc, I've wanted to reconstruct it. I've really wanted to try and create the epic that was the original cut and while I think it'd be impossible to fully recreate it, because I can't go to NYC and shoot the actors doing the original scenes... I do think I could with help (someone doing VFX) make something more grand, and at least different. (image)(image) I mean you have these pieces of concept art, but there's way more; There's an excellent YT video by the channel "Dark Phoenix Un-Cut" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvwvETFKCic that has a lot of the art and such in one video... what I would give to try and just reconstruct simple things, like Jean having more fire, or the original opening titles... Even the teaser's got missing stuff cause it's from before the reshoots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWbMckU3AOQ The shot of Scott in the fog, Charles in the backyard of the X-Mansion "apologizing" which we do have that deleted scene on physical... but like I said I don't wanna just slap in 4 scenes and call it good, I want to make something grander, more epic. Will anyone help me?

What edits are you all working on?
I have been struggling with Star Trek First Contact. I am thinking I might try and touch one of my other projects but I can't remember what they are.

Metal Gear Solid: Ranger Regiment - Review by Tesseract131
Metal Gear Solid: Ranger Regiment is this killer fan edit by BIind_Uchiha over on Reddit that takes the Netflix movie War Machine and completely transforms it into something that feels straight out of the Metal Gear Solid universe. It totally captures that classic MGS vibe from the very first scene all the way through, like it belongs right alongside the games with the epic tension and stealthy action that makes the whole thing pop. The way BIind_Uchiha reworked everything just clicks in a way the original never did for me, swapping in all the Metal Gear OST tracks and layering on those perfect robot sound effects for the killing machine so it feels authentic and immersive. Every little tweak adds up to something way more badass, turning what was already a pretty solid flick into this cohesive, heart-pounding experience that pulls you in and keeps you hooked the entire runtime of one hour and twenty-eight minutes.I love how it trims out all the unnecessary stuff like the learning-to-be-a-leader subplot and the whole alien invasion angle, cutting dialogue and scenes to keep the action moving fast without any filler slowing it down. The Metal Gear OST tracks are placed perfectly throughout to build that intense atmosphere and really paint the scenes with pure MGS energy, and the main character carries those soundtracks like he’s stepping into Snake’s boots during the toe-to-toe combat with the towering Metal Gear. But man, the sounds of the robot are what really make it awesome, those Metal Gear effects layered on the killing machine crank everything up and make the big moments hit so much harder than they ever did before, giving it that exact feel Kojima was talking about when he said the original was basically Predator meets Metal Gear.Yeah, the action scenes can get seriously loud especially when the big boy shows up and you might wanna keep the volume control handy unless you’re all in for that full immersive holy-poop-that’s-intense experience the characters are feeling, but it’s not a deal breaker at all and honestly just adds to how epic it all feels. Overall it’s amazing and sounds way more intense than the real movie ever did, with the music and those robot sounds cranking everything up to another level. Coming from someone who straight-up loved this fan edit after hearing about it, Metal Gear Solid: Ranger Regiment by u/BIind_Uchiha is a huge win and totally worth checking out if you’re into the MGS series or just want to see War Machine turned into something three times more badass.

trying methods to put new fan works onto front page.
gave this a good go today. Without my coding companion, it's difficult and I have to go bit by bit. So I have currently settled for just having two latest fan works and two random fan works. I can work on it some more slowly, I think I want to reduce the size of the fanwork thumbnails and i want to include a sort of carousel so more can be included. The random ones are not fully random either, or at least they don't feel random.

improved forum breadcrumb
breadcrumb wouldn't work on topic loaded from outside the forum. to be honest with the loss of claude sonnet 4.5 I lost a lot of confidence in being able to get the code correct. I can code on my own, but with my audhd I can get overwhelmed with complex syntax. I decided to have a proper crack at it today, just something simple to see how I go. I am pretty happy with the outcome. I already fetch tags for topics so what I needed t do was to isolate the first tag and apply it to the model. then pass it to the breadcrumb generator. Bingo, it works! it seems simple to be honest, but with my mental processing issues lately, simple things can get overwhelming easily. anyway, enjoy your breadcrumbs!!! it does improve the forum by instilling that sense of place. I also adjusted the page styling so it remains stuck to the top of the viewport so you don't have to scroll all the way up.

Justice is important in online platforms.
Yeah it's a shame how YouTube and other similar sites have leaned into automation, a machine's sense of justice does not necessarily equal a human beings sense of justice. The lack of professionalism in how they chose to deliver the news of my ban from YouTube didn't help either, thankfully there are still good people in the world and as time goes on more good people appearing and growing in the world who are trying to and in some cases have succeeded in making things better.

These automated systems are terrible, honestly that makes my blood boil, when you were working within legal allowances, but they just don't give any reasonable consideration for that. We need more decent humans making decisions.
